Did YOU Know? Harry Potter Unforgivable Spells EDITION

Hi! This is another Did YOU Know? post. This time on unforgivable spells or curses from Harry Potter.

You can find the first post explaining the Did YOU Know segment - HERE

An unforgivable spell is when you can murder someone, torture someone or force them to do something. There are three unforgivable curses (spells).

1- Imperius curse (Imperio)- This is the spell that can make you do something. No one can fight it back. The only person recorded to be able to do so is Harry Potter in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

2- Killing curse (Avada Kedavra)- This is the spell that can kill you instantly. The Dark Lord used this spell on James, Lily and Harry Potter. Harry Potter is the only wizard in the whole world to survive this curse.

3- Cruciates curse (Crucio)- This is the spell that can torture people horribly. People use this spell to get information out of other people. Bellatrix and a few other deatheaters used this spell on Alice and Frank Longbottem who are Neville's parents.

Book talk- So far 2020

Hi! Hope you enjoy the FIRST Book talk for 2020!

I have reviewed these books:

The Peacock Detectives by Carly Nugent, Born to Dance by Jean Ure and Truth Cookies by Fiona Dunbar.

A quick recap:

The Peacock Detectives- Cassie a Peacock Whisperer (kind of, she's just really good at tracking Peacocks) had a really great, normal life up until now. Her parents start fighting any time they see each other, her sister moves out (into the Garden) and dramas follow.

Born to Dance- Maddy, a ballet dancer was asked by Miss Lucas her gym teacher to do a part in the school play but Maddy said it was stupid as Miss Lucas always gave her bad choregraphy. Maddy decided just to perform the dance for Miss Lucas's sake and when Maddy met Caitlyn a new problem formed.

Truth Cookies- Lulu's evil step-mother to be, Varaminta Le Bone, is an ex-model who tries to marry Lulu's dad. Her biological mother died a few years ago. Varaminta has a son called Torquil and they move to the Baker's  (Lulu and her dads) house where they blackmailed and fired Aileen, the family's maid/cook so that Grodmila, Varaminta's evil friend, could be hired.

The book I liked the most is, The Peacock Detectives. I'm not saying that Born to Dance or Truth Cookies were horrible... I am just implying that The Peacock Detectives touched on subjects that are quite realistic and likely to happen at home. The Peacock Detectives is in first person (I, me, myself) so, you get to connect to how Cassie is feeling and her emotions. As the reader, you understand that it's normal to feel that way if you're going through what Cassie did.

The Truth Cookies

Hi! I hope you enjoy this book review on The Truth Cookies!

Author- Fiona Dunbar
Genre- Fiction, Mystery
Theme- Be who you are I will explain why later in the post
Target audience- 10+ I will know explain why later in the post

I chose the main theme as be who you are because in The Truth Cookie Lulu Baker stays true to herself despite her dad wanting to marry someone cruel (Varaminta Le Bone).

This book is about Lulu trying to stop Varaminta Le Bone marrying her dad. Her mother died when she was just starting school. To make matters worse Torquil and Varaminta move in to their house and Varaminta wants her dad to be skinnier so she puts him on a boiled eggs diet. Then when her dad goes on a long New York city trip Varaminta puts in a closet going into Lulu's room. Then later Lulu gets the Apple Star book. It has recipes that are magic. They can make you silent, say the truth or even make you hear what the other person is thinking. Lulu got this amazing book from Cassandra. She thinks she got it from her mum. Then, more trouble. Varaminta fires Aileen (their cook/ maid) and replaces her with Grodmila. Grodmila is somewhat evil, too.

I give this book 3 out of 5 ⛦ stars because sometimes it got confusing as too much was happening. Then, other times nothing was happening. Otherwise it was great!

The question of the blog is would you want a model as a mum? I personally think I wouldn't because then, your mum would probably want to make you skinny and look beautiful like her. We are all beautiful in our own way!

The other books in this series are, Cupid Cupcakes and Chocolate Wishes. If you want tell me in the comments and I can review them if wanted.

I hope you enjoy this book review on The Truth Cookies! Love-bookworm blog
